Four candidates from Sullivan County have entered the race for an open house seat.
State representative Tony Maiola resigned last month for health reasons.
Three Democrats are running for the seat, including John LaRock, Peter Franklin and Arthur Jillette. Steve Cunningham is the lone Republican.
The district represents Newport, Croydon, Springfield, Goshen and Washington. The primary is scheduled for December 8 and the special election is set for January 12.
