HANOVER, N.Y. (AP) - Some citizens in upstate New York are helping authorities fight drunk driving.
Authorities say that in Hanover early Saturday, a passing motorist spotted a car in a ditch and stopped to help. But when he suspected the driver had been drunk behind the wheel, he called 911 and authorities arrested the 24-year-old driver.
In Brant, a citizen call reporting a reckless driver on Saturday night led to another arrest on charges of drunken driving and traffic infractions.
