NEW YORK (AP) - Police on Long Island have accused three teens of stealing schoolbooks from a middle school, shredding them and setting them on fire.
Nassau County police say the boys broke into the public school in Herricks on Tuesday night.
They say the trio smashed potted plants and took numerous schoolbooks to the playground, where the charred remains of the books were found by investigators.
All three teens face charges of burglary, arson and criminal mischief as adults. 2 of the youths are 16 years old and the other is 17 years old.
Their lawyers' names were not immediately available.
