Weathersfield, Vermont - November 12, 2009
The host of an underage drinking party and his parents are facing charges after Vermont State Police say they busted the gathering last week.
Police responded to 32 Weatherbee Hill Rd., in Weathersfield, late Saturday night and found 16 kids under the age of 21 drinking in the basement. Nineteen-year-old Nicholas Leonardo, the alleged host of the party, was found to be drinking and was subsequently arrested for violating his conditions of release by the Windsor County District Court. He was also charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine, which police say they found during a warrant-ordered search.
Police say Leonardo's parents, Frank and Michele, were home at the time. They're now charged with enabling the consumption of alcohol by minors. Nicholas was jailed for lack of bail. All 16 people at the party were issued court diversion paperwork, civil violation tickets or court citations. Police say their BACs ranged from a high of .139 to a low of .013.
