ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The judge presiding at former New York Senate leader Joseph Bruno's corruption trial is threatening unnamed sanctions if Bruno again questions any of the judge's rulings in front of the jury.
Scolding Bruno at the close of the trial's eighth day, U.S. District Judge Gary Sharpe told the Rensselaer County Republican that for once in his life he isn't in control.
Bruno turned to his attorney to question why Sharpe let a prosecutor ask an additional question of the day's last witness. The judge dismissed the jury and the witness, then threatened to take "measures" if there are any Bruno repeats.
Bruno, 80, faces eight fraud charges, accused of using his office to enrich himself and deprive New Yorkers of his honest services.
