Ex-Teacher Facing Conduct Accusations Surrenders License

Duxbury, Vermont - November 19, 2009

An art teacher and girls soccer coach at Crossett Brook Middle School is accused of having inappropriate electronic communication with students and now he's surrendered his teaching license.

Brian Eyler was hired at the Duxbury school this year after three years at Hartford Middle School in White River Junction. Eyler left his job at Crossett Brook early last month and resigned a few weeks later. Parents were originally told he was on administrative leave but weren't given an explanation.

Eyler surrendered his license on Wednesday, meaning he can no longer teach in the state. School officials say the alleged inappropriate communication did not involve a Crossett Brook student. However, another teacher is on unexplained administrative leave and that has parents worried.
