CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire's Legislative Ethics Committee wants to further investigate claims that a state lawmaker used improper influence to win a railroad lease.
David Fink, who owns rival railroad Pan Am Systems, believes Milford Democrat Peter Leishman got preferential treatment in bidding on the use of the state-owned rail line between Wilton and Bennington because Leishman is a member of the House Finance Committee.
In August, the state attorney general's office cleared state officials of any criminal wrongdoing, but the New Hampshire Union Leader reports that the ethics committee recently voted to do its own investigation into whether Leishman violated ethics guidelines.
Leishman denies acting improperly.
