Church to Sell Window to Keep Homeless Shelter

Brattleboro, Vermont - November 23, 2009

A Brattleboro church is selling its 113-year-old Tiffany stained glass window so it can keep operating a homeless shelter.

Members of the First Baptist Church voted to sell the window that depicts St. John the Divine.

The church has hosted a homeless shelter for the last two years. Members are concerned expensive repairs will be needed to make sure the shelter is adequate for people to sleep in.

Church officials have already received offers for the window, the highest so far, $75,000.
