NEW YORK (AP) - A former New York City electrical contractor will spend three months behind bars for paying tens of thousands of dollars in bribes to a corrupt union official.
Santo Petrocelli Sr. was sentenced Monday by a federal judge in Manhattan.
Petrocelli is the former chairman and principal owner of Petrocelli Electric. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy and bribery charges in August.
Authorities said the Clark, N.J., resident paid bribes to Brian McLaughlin on lucrative projects.
McLaughlin is a former state assemblyman and head of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He's serving a 10-year prison sentence.
Petrocelli Electric was once New York City's biggest street light contractor.
