Shelburne, Vermont - February 20, 2010
Shelburne Farms gave kids and their parents a glimpse into the life of a modern forester Saturday.
Educators spent the day with children ages four and up explaining the importance of trees and forestry and what products they provide in our daily lives. "The whole idea is connecting kids to where does wood come from? What do we do with wood? Why are trees important? So I think with all of the programs we do at Shelburne Farms, it's connecting kids back to where do their products and their food come from," said Susie Marchand of Shelburne Farms.
"Every time we come to Shelburne Farm we appreciate Vermont more because we learn more about it," said Leigh Steele of Burlington.
The Forester for a Day program is now in its 5th year.
