Montpelier, Vermont - March 26, 2010
The Vermont Legislature has given final approval to a bill aimed at boosting recycling of computers and other electronics.
Right now, Vermonters wait for once-a-year collection events to unload their old gear for free.
The new legislation will allow disposal year-round and passes the cost to the manufacturers of the electronics. Similar programs are already in place in 20 other states.
If signed by the governor, Vermont's law will take effect in July of 2011.
