MAMARONECK, N.Y. (AP) - Investigators say pieces of metal that smashed through the window of a Westchester County home earlier this week have been linked to a passing Amtrak train.
Police say a train passing through the town Wednesday morning apparently experienced a malfunction that caused pieces of a wheel assembly to fly off.
The shrapnel crashed into a bedroom at a house in Mamaroneck. Pieces of steel also smashed a car window.
No one was hurt.
The house sits about 45 feet from the Amtrak tracks.
