Friday, August 6th
The ninth annual Vermont Whiffle Ball Tournament to benefit the Travis Roy Foundation takes place this weekend (Friday, August 6th to Sunday, August 8th) at Little Fenway and Little Wrigley, otherwise known as Pat O'Connor's backyard in Essex.
The event is free and open to the public.
24 teams will compete in the tournament. Last summer, the event brought in an amazing $231,000, bringing the eight year total of money raised to over $725,000 to support the Travis Roy Foundation.
This year the goal is to pass the $1,000,000 mark in total funds raised for the Foundation that provides funds for spinal cord injury research and also awards grants to help improve the quality of life for individuals that have suffered spinal cord injuries.
There will be a silent auction, several raffles, a home run derby, kid's whiffle ball game and other contest throughout the weekend. For more information, go online to travisroyfoundation.org or littlefenway.com.
