Bloom movie examines lake algae problem

Burlington, Vermont - November 23, 2010

Executive Producer Jon Erickson talks about his new Vermont movie set to debut next Monday.  It's called Bloom - The Plight of Lake Champlain.  It examines the perennial blue-green algae problem that pops up in the summer.

Bloom's premier is Monday at Palace 9 in South Burlington. The show starts at 7 p.m. Admission is free.

Erickson explained how they got so many people to talk,"Not one person said 'no'," he said, "Everyone we called up to talk to and to interview, was more than willing to talk to us about their  perspective on blue-green algae, the impact that algae and the general health is having on their communities and also what the underlying symptoms are."

The film focuses on the St. Albans Bay area of Lake Champlain which Erickson likened to the ground-zero area of the problem facing the lake.
