Manchester, Vermont - November 25, 2010
A tragic shooting in Manchester Thursday.
Jeffrey Charbonneau, 24, of Manchester, was shot and killed in bed.
Police say Nicholas Bell, 23, of Manchester, fired what he thought was an air gun as a prank to wake up Charbonneau. But the gun was actually a loaded .22-caliber rifle. The shot hit Charbonneau in the chest and he died at the scene.
Bell was arrested for manslaughter. He's being held at the jail in Rutland.
Police say both men were staying at a friend's home on Eagle Rise Road. Two other people were in the home when the shooting took place.
