Hardwick, Vermont - December 15, 2010
An FBI probe has uncovered new details about an alleged embezzlement scheme at the Hardwick Electric Department.
Agents now believe office manager Joyce Bellavance stole almost $1.5 million from the utility over the past decade and spent it on everything from a $350,000 condo in Boston to a $41,000 luxury SUV.
Prosecutors have yet to file any charges against Bellavance. The FBI hopes to seize real estate, the SUV and the contents of bank accounts and insurance policies connected to the alleged scheme.
