Norwich University is bringing together ambitious students and local police departments in an effort to reduce crime and help students acquire hands-on skills.
Student Travis Dyke, who is working with local police, and Norwich professor Max Schlueter joined The :30 to discuss the project.
Dyke said of the program, "It's pretty nice to go through a crime analysis and be able to use actual data and analyze it as you were a crime analysis person to see what kinds of things you can do to help prevent these crimes from happening in the future."
Police asked the students to offer up their own opinions based on what they had discovered using the data.
