Kaye Borneman
Burlington, Vermont - January 4, 2011
Memorial services for the woman killed in a car crash in downtown Burlington have been announced.
Kaye Borneman, 43, of Burlington, died instantly when she was hit by Timothy Dowd, 52, of Hinesburg, who police say was fleeing a traffic stop.
Borneman was on her way home from the movies when she was killed.
Dowd has been convicted of drunk driving four times. The victim's family wants to know why he was behind the wheel again.
"I guess I'm angry at him for being such an irresponsible person and taking my only daughter's life away," said John Borneman, Kaye's father. "I haven't even been able to drum the depths of my anger about this because I'm still in the shock stage."
Kaye Borneman's family lives in California and will travel to Burlington for her memorial which will be held Saturday at the First Baptist Church at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends bring written remembrances to share.
