BURLINGTON, VT -  The UVM men's and women's basketball teams are taking part in the Shooting for Literacy program.

The men paid a visit to Christ the King School on Thursday.  They met with the students in an assembly, answered questions and read books to the kids.  It was a special day for freshman forward Clancy Rugg, who attended to Christ the King.

"It's awesome, especially coming back here of all places, since I went here for 7 years, but the whole community service stuff is great.", said Rugg. "The whole team loves it, getting out here and making a difference. Just being here, all the memories come flooding back, of my Dad coaching me back in middle school, elementary school, and it's a great experience to be back here again, it's awesome."

The Vermont women will visit the students at the Malletts Bay School in Colchester Friday morning as part of the Shooting for Literacy program.  This season the UVM student-athletes have been pen pals with the classes at the School and on Friday they will be reading books to those classes.
