The demolition of the Champlain Bridge created a huge inconvenience for commuters but it also unearthed several historical artifacts from a French colonial fort.
John Crock is an expert in anthropology and archaeology at UVM. Scott Dillon is an archeologist for Vermont Division for Historic Preservation.
Experts knew from historical documents that a French fort existed in the area but had no evidence of it's location until evidence discovered following the demolition of the bridge provided new clues.
