Montpelier, Vermont - February 7, 2011
Another push is underway to make snowboarding Vermont's official state sport.
Seventeen sponsors have signed onto a bill that lawmakers will debate this legislative session. Similar bills face planted in 2008 and 2009.
Lawmakers, however, argue that it's time to recognize snowboarding's significance to Vermont culture. Stratton Mountain is known as the birthplace of the sport and Suicide Six in Pomfret was the first ski area in the country to allow snowboarding.
