The situation in Libya continues to deteriorate. Libyan ruler Moammar Gadhafi says he won't stop using violence against his own people vowing to fight until the last man and woman.
Gadhafi also warned that thousands of Libyans will die if U.S. and NATO forces intervene in the conflict. Meanwhile, rebels and supporters including members of the military who have abandoned Gadhafi, fought off his forces and retained control of a key oil installation. In the midst of all this, foreigners and Libyans are fleeing the country seeking safety.
Gregory Gause, a political science professor at UVM, is an expert on the Middle East and he appeared on The :30 to explain the situation in Libya.
In Egypt, the army ushered out Mubarak and is in control, explained Gause, but in Libya, he says, "The army doesn't have that same institutional cohesion, doesn't have a sense of it's own corporate interests, and it's fragmenting as the situation deteriorates."
