Montpelier, Vermont - March 1, 2004
Tomorrow is Super Tuesday. While New York and California are delegate rich states-- Vermont is also part of primary day. And some are wondering if Howard Dean will win his first presidential contest.
Howard Dean has dropped out but his name is still on the ballot along with John Kerry. Vermonters will choose 15 democratic delegates tomorrow and if you choose to vote-- your party affiliation will be recorded.
"It's different in the presidential primary you have to publicly say whether you are a Republican or Democrat. It is marked on the checklist which then becomes public record," says Deb Markowitz, D-Vt. Secretary of State. "Well every year we get calls from irate voters who are used to the privacy and it violates their rights to have a private vote."
But the presidential primary is a different animal. It's a function of the political parties who are deciding who their candidates are going to be.
