Burlington, Vermont - April 29, 2005
Vermont's political landscape could be a lot clearer by tomorrow afternoon.
Governor Jim Douglas announced today, he will make "an announcement" at an afternoon press conference at the University of Vermont.
His office is being very tight lipped about what the Governor might announce. His press secretary will not confirm that the announcement involves the Governor's political future.
Douglas is feeling pressure to run for the United States Senate now that Senator James Jeffords has announced his retirement. Douglas also could announce his re-election plans for Governor.
Congressman Bernie Sanders has indicated he likely will run for Senate. But Douglas's decision will open the door to a host of other decisions by Vermont politicians.
Douglas will hold his event at 2 P.M. at the University of Vermont. Channel 3 News will cover it live.
