The suffering seen in Katrina's wake sparked a lot of finger pointing about who's to blame. Rep. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, says lives were lost because of the slow federal response to the disaster and that shows we're not ready for a terror attack.
"What frightens a lot of American people is that we had days and days of warning about Hurricane Katrina. And I doubt that Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden will give us those kinds of warning."
Sanders singled out FEMA for particular criticism, saying Director Michael Brown was unqualified to do the job. President Bush and Congress have vowed separate investigations into what went wrong.
