Tarrant Tops Parke

Colchester, Vermont - September 12, 2006

Rich Tarrant won a convincing victory over Greg Parke in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate Tuesday night.

"We need people in Washington who care more about-- not the next election-- but the next generation. And that's what we have now. The next election," Tarrant told supporters at his headquarters in Colchester.

Tarrant also outlined his priorities if he wins in the general election in November; health care, reigning in federal spending and ending partisan hatred.

Meanwhile, Independent Bernie Sanders was on a crowded ballot in the Democratic Senate primary. Sanders was the runaway winner. But he will decline the party's nomination-- and that means there will be no Democrat on the ballot in November.
