Fogel Defends UVM Wages

Burlington, Vermont - April 26, 2007

The President at the University of Vermont released a statement Thursday morning about the hunger strike at the school, which has entered its fourth day.

About a dozen students say they won't eat again until the school pays all its employees a livable wage. The group says a livable wage is $13.62 an hour, and 250 U-V-M employees don't make that much.

UVM President Dan Fogel said the University is one of Vermont's most responsible employers, offering even the lowest paid employees wages and benefits that are highly competitive.
