A board member with the Clinton County Historical Association is charged with stealing exhibit pieces and placing them on Ebay.
Police say 25-year-old Matthew Boire stole an 1863 sword and scabbard and placed it on the Internet auction site.
The president of the Historical Society noticed it and contacted police.
During a search of Boire's home, police found 2 more swords and scabbards, along with a Civil War era rifle and flag.
Police are still trying to figure out how much the goods are worth, but say it is in the thousands of dollars.
He is charged with possession of stolen property.
