Chinese Delegation Learns About Vermont's Energy Efficiency Programs
Montpelier, Vermont - December 6, 2007
A delegation from China is in Vermont, learning about the state's energy efficiency programs.
The 17 officials want to see how Efficiency Vermont and other programs are helping people use less power. The trip comes at a time when China's electricity consumption has jumped 13 percent. The delegation wants to bring new ideas back to China.
"It's through this kind of collaborative exchange that will create the momentum that we hope will create a planet with which we can all continue to live and be healthy," said Beth Sachs of the Vt. Energy Investment Corporation.
"As my colleagues and counterparts from Vermont just mentioned, it's a common concern and a shared responsibility to improve energy efficiency," said Lu Jun Ling of China's National Development and Reform Commission on Electricity.
The Chinese delegation will be at the Vermont Law School on Friday. The group is also visiting California and New York.
