Closing Arguments Heard at Dartmouth Murder Trial

Berkeley, California - April 24, 2008

Closing arguments will be heard Thursday morning in the trial of Christopher Hollis. He is accused of fatally shooting a Dartmouth College student in California.

Hollis is charged with murdering his friend, 19-year-old Meleia Willis-Starbuck, outside her home in California three years ago. Hollis does not deny firing the fatal shot, but he claims it was to scare off a group of men who had surrounded Starbuck.

Prosecutors call the shooting a reckless disregard for human life.

If convicted, Hollis could be sent to prison for life.
