A teenager from Florida is recovering after being trapped in a cave for six hours.
Rescuers were called to the remote area called the Falls Cliff Cave, on the Dorset/Danby town line just after 7 p.m. last night. The victim was part of a cave exploring camp, based in New Hampshire. The group was camping nearby and was in the process of leaving the cave when the girl slipped and fell 15-feet into a deep narrow part of the cave. Before rescuers could get to her they had to divert a stream of water and clear a path.
Six hours later she was safely freed, and taken to the hospital for evaluation.
