Rev. Rico Diamond
Ofc. Jack O'Connor
Burlington, Vermont - August 7, 2008
A jury has sided with the South Burlington Police Department in a racial discrimination lawsuit.
Reverend Rico Diamond was seeking an unspecified amount of money, claiming police discriminated against him because of his race. Three years ago, police took $5,300 from him during a raid at a South Burlington hotel room. Cops suspected the money might be from a drug deal, but it was later returned to Diamond.
The judge said Officer Jack O'Connor was wrong for taking the money, but the jury ruled O'Connor's actions were NOT racist.
Rico Diamond has lost his lawsuit.
