Hartland, Vermont - December 8, 2008
Vermont State Police say a drunk bus driver ready to begin his route was more than 12 times over the legal limit.
Paul McMorris, 50, of Hartford, was arrested Friday-- minutes before he was set to bring three dozen students home from Hartland Elementary School. Police say his preliminary blood alcohol content was .242 percent. That is over three times the legal limit for DUI and over 12 times the legal limit for bus drivers. And police expect the number to be higher when the final results come back.
McMorris has been suspended by his employer First Student. You may remember last year First Student fired another driver who arrived drunk on the job in Barre.
