Vermont Winter Carnival: Day 3

STOWE, VT - Freshman Caitlin Patterson (Anchorage, Alaska) skied to her second straight victory and senior Juergen Uhl (Muhlenbach, Germany) won his seventh straight classic race on the EISA circuit to lead the way for Vermont on the final day of the UVM Carnival at Trapp Family Lodge on Sunday. Patterson won the women's 10k classic by more than 2 seconds while Uhl cruised to a 45 second victory in the men's 15k classic.

The Catamounts finished second as a team in their home carnival with 798.5 points while Dartmouth was first with 919 points.

Senior Mary Stewart (Ripton, Vt.) added a career best 10th-place finish in the women's 10k classic. Freshman Johanna Mayerhofer (Bad Gastein, Austria) was 15th and senior Katrina Howe (Gilford, N.H.) was 16th.

Senior Chris Ziegler (Detroit Lakes, Minn.) followed up Uhl's performance with an eighth-place finish in the men's 15k classic. Senior Ryan Kerrigan (Duxbury, Vt.) finished 18th and freshman Alex Howe (Gilford, N.H.) was 20th.

Vermont continues the EISA Circuit next weekend at the Dartmouth Carnival on Friday and Saturday at the Dartmouth Ski Way and Oak Hill.
