Getting In On the Green Economy

Burlington, Vermont - February 16, 2009

A panel of experts at Champlain College laid out how to become part of the new green economy on Monday night.

Panelists say green jobs can be nearly anything, from people who learn to blow insulation to make homes more energy efficient, to architects who design green homes to manufacturers who create environmentally-friendly products like light bulbs and energy efficient blinds.

"In addition to that we need people to market, so I say there are green marketing jobs, green IT jobs, there's green administration jobs, there's green accounting jobs, because all of those people need to be part of the industry because it's going to be so big it needs to manage itself," said Beth Sachs with the Vermont Energy Investment Corporation.

The economic stimulus package could include $60 million for Vermont companies with eco-friendly products and services.
