Eva McKend anchors the Channel 3 News at 11 p.m. and "The :30."
She joined the WCAX News Team in January 2015 after spending two years as a reporter at the Time Warner Cable News station in the Hudson Valley. During her time in the Greater New York City region, Eva covered many stories at the 24-hour cable news channel that received national and international attention. Eva's reporting of an illegal demolition in Monticello, New York, was recognized by The Associated Press for Best Continuing Coverage. The AP also gave her a nod for General Excellence in Individual Reporting. Eva also took an in-depth look at the impact of Governor Andrew Cuomo's proposal to expand college access to more state prisoners though a three-part series, "Inmate Education."
Prior to Time Warner Cable News, she spent a summer as a Washington-based correspondent for Springfield, Missouri, CBS affiliate KOLR/KOZL. She's held internships at CNN, NBC Philadelphia, ESSENCE and Ms. magazine. Eva has also traveled extensively as a result of being awarded fellowships and grants for academic opportunities in Australia, England, France, Spain, Greece, Senegal, Morocco, Brazil, China and Japan.
Eva is a graduate of Swarthmore College and earned her master's degree from the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University as a Turner Broadcasting Fellow.
She is a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
