MILTON, Vt. (WCAX) Two people have been hospitalized following a head-on collision in Milton.
Police say it happened shortly before noon Friday on Route 7 near the Milton Dam.
Police say both were speeding when one crossed the center line. Both drivers were trapped and had to be rescued from their cars by emergency responders.
"Extrication was a little extensive on one vehicle. He was pretty well pinned in the vehicle -- his legs were pinned in the vehicle. We had to do quite a bit to get him out. We've been out for about an hour here. This time of day its not too too bad. If it was a morning commute, it would be horrific," said Milton Fire Chief Chris Poirier.
Police say one of the drivers had a severe leg injury. The other had head, hip, and shoulder injuries. Both are expected to recover.
Route 7 was closed for about 90 minutes.
