PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) Another Democrat has joined the race to unseat Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-Willsboro, for New York's 21st Congressional District seat.
With the general election still more than a year away, Tanya Boone of Granville on Thursday announced she is joining a field of four Democrats vying for the June 2018 Democratic primary.
In a prepared statement, the former union organizer and small business owner said, "People who work very hard have gotten a raw deal - in Northern New York and rural areas throughout the country."
Other Democrats that have announced include: Don Boyajian, an attorney from Cambridge; Tedra Cobb, a business owner and former St. Lawrence County legislator; Emily Martz, a small-business owner from Keene; and Patrick Nelson, a political activist from Stillwater.
According to the latest Federal Elections Commission filing, Stefanik has over $1 million in her campaign war chest. Stefanik was elected to the district seat in 2014 and won re-election last year.
