COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX) - A St. Albans native is now $25,000 richer and she earned every penny.
31 year old Orla Walsh competed and won Steve Austin's Broken Skull Challenge on the CMT Network. Her winning episode ran Tuesday night.
It's the second time she's been on the show. She was invited back for a second chance after finishing as a runner up in her first appearance.
The Broken Skull Challenge involves grappling, strength and endurance challenges with the top competitors advancing to the skull buster obstacle course.
Walsh is a critical care transport nurse and has been a professional obstacle course racer the last four years, taking part in Spartan races and Tough Mudders.
We caught up with Walsh her this week after her winning episode aired. She was working out at Mountain Trail Crossfit in Colchester still basking in the glow of her hard earned success.
"Everyone in Vermont has been supporting me and I'm so proud to represent Vermonters that I've just never given up. My mom has died, my best friend has passed. I've had obstacles, but I've just never given up. I know what I want," Orla Walsh said.
She plans to use the money towards a car and paying off college loans. She will be featured on one more episode of the Broken Skull Challenge, an all-star edition, on CMT Tuesday Dec. 19th at 10pm.
