PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) Angela Ball is pleading guilty to manslaughter rather than risk another murder conviction.
Prosecutors say four years ago, the Saranac Lake woman beat her ex-boyfriend with a baseball bat and stabbed him to death. She was convicted and sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.
But a New York appeals court tossed that conviction because the jury wasn't allowed to consider whether she was justified in using deadly force.
Monday, Ball pleaded guilty to manslaughter. Now, instead of going on trial for murder in January she will be sentenced for manslaughter instead.
