Behind the firing of Burlington Free Press editor Denis Finley

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) This week an editor of Vermont's largest newspaper was fired after a series of tweets about a state proposal to add a third gender option to driver's licenses.

Denis Finley was criticized after tweeting about the possibility of adding a third gender option on licenses. He tweeted "Awesome! That makes us one step closer to the apocalypse." Parent company USA Today Network says Finley's tweets failed to adhere to company policies.

Eva McKend spoke with Traci Griffith with the Media Studies, Journalism, and Digital Arts Department at Saint Michael's College about the issue.
