Case against 2 Vt. troopers goes to attorney general

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) A pair of Vermont state troopers are still off the job but collecting paychecks two weeks after a bizarre fire at one of their homes.

We're now told the attorney general's office got the case late last week.

Troopers Stephen McGranaghan and Jason Haley were put on leave after allegedly burning an A-frame building on McGranaghan's property in Stannard. Authorities tell us he had a permit to burn brush but not the abandoned house.

The troopers will remain on paid leave until the AG can review the criminal case against them.
