PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) A federal judge has sentenced a Chicago man to nearly five years in jail for defrauding a Plattsburgh company.

The case involves Laurentian Aerospace Corporation. Authorities say, the Plattsburgh company hired Debashis Ghosh, 54, to raise money for an airplane maintenance facility at the former Air Force base in Plattsburgh. Ghosh, who helped run Verdant Capital Group, was supposed to maintain more than $2 million in a bank account. Instead, authorities say, he spent the money.

A federal judge in March sentenced Ghosh's partner, Keith Eric Jergensen, 58, of Salt Lake City, to 59 months in prison. Both men were also ordered to pay $2.5 million in restitution.
