Cuomo slams hurricane response

QUEENS, N.Y. (WCAX) New York governor Andrew Cuomo slammed the Trump administration Saturday.

Cuomo called on the federal government to swiftly approve a robust federal aid package to rebuild the nearly $100 billion in damages the island sustained following Hurricane Maria. Cuomo says Washington has failed Puerto Rican people.

"In my opinion, the federal government should be ashamed of itself, the way they've handled this. Puerto Rico has not gotten the care and attention they deserve. Puerto Ricans are American citizens. They've been treated as second-class citizens. I resent it as a New Yorker and American. And federal government should be ashamed of itself," Cuomo said.

The democrat say the response effort and compassion shown to the island is less than what the United States has shown to foreign countries.
