Details on plan to expunge some Vt. pot convictions

SOUTH ROYALTON, Vt. (WCAX) With marijuana legalization in Vermont around the corner, some people who have been busted in the past will be able to have those charges wiped from their record.

Prosecutors in Chittenden and Windsor counties announced they are expunging convictions for misdemeanors.

This only goes for misdemeanors; felony charges still stand. And the incidents must be from one of those two counties.

So how does the process work? There will be two free information sessions to help people through the process. For Windsor County convictions, Expungement Day will be Sat., June 9, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., in Oakes Hall, Room 012 at the Vermont Law School in South Royalton. For Chittenden County convictions, Expungement Day is Tues., June 12, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in Courtroom 2C of the Costello Courthouse at 32 Cherry Street in Burlington.
