F-35 opponents push Burlington Town Meeting Day vote

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) Burlington voters may be able to weigh in about the F-35 fighter jet coming to our area.

Opponents say they have enough signatures on the petition to make it onto the ballot on Town Meeting Day in March. Now the issue goes to the city council at its meeting on January 29th. Opponents say the Air Force's newest fighter jet will hurt quality of life in the area. Supporters say they're needed to replace the Guard's aging fleet of F-16s.

The Green Mountain Boys are slated to be among the first units to fly the F-35s starting next year.
