Fire damages downtown Burlington businesses

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) Two buildings were damaged Thursday from a fire, but the crews who put it out are safe.

Around 6:30 p.m. someone reported flames at a building on Browns Court in Burlington, that's near the corner of King and St. Paul. The fire spread to a building next door.

The fire department said oily rags in the bigger complex that's under construction spontaneously combusted.

The fire then spread to a smaller residential building next door. Crews couldn't say if anyone was living there. They said one firefighter was injured but was checked out and is OK.

The total damage comes out to about $200,000.
