BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) A longtime Vermont lawmaker has died.
Ed Flanagan was from Burlington. Flanagan served as state auditor from 1993 to 2001 as well as state senator from 2005 to 2011.
In 2005, he was driving home on Interstate 89 from the State House when he went off the road in Richmond. Flanagan spent 18 hours unconscious in freezing temperatures before he was found. He suffered brain damage and other ailments which eventually ended his political career.
He was 66-years-old.
