GMP calls in out-of-state crews to help with storm

COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX) Green Mountain Power is calling on out-of-state crews to help in this weekend's storm response.

Officials say a hundred crews are heading this way for rapid response, and that's on top of the local crews already deployed across the state, especially in the central area.

"Carefully tracking the forecast there has been some slight good news that it might be backing off the models of being a massive statewide event and more of the damage possibly focused on the central part of the state, so we are looking at Windsor, Rutland, Washington and Addison counties," said GMP's Kristin Carlson.

She says they don't believe this storm will compare to the ice storm of 1998 which caused devastation to the Champlain Valley, however they do anticipate possible widespread problems.
