Hunter triggers lockdown at Burlington school

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) Police say a Burlington elementary school was placed on "modified lockdown" Thursday afternoon after reports of a gunshot.

Police say the Integrated Arts Academy at H.O. Wheeler, in the city's Old North End, went on alert after the gunshot was heard.

Burlington Police Chief Brandon del Pozo tells WCAX News that investigators found the shot came from a hunter targeting waterfowl nearby. That person was hunting legally.

No one at the school was hurt and the lockdown has since been lifted.
